  1. Subsite directors should be able to manange a subset of groups

Subsite directors (and perhaps section editors too) should have the ability to add/manage groups at their subsite level. Giving them a passport to manage all groups isn't secure - the risk that they could mess up a group from another school or at the district level is too high.

  2. To enable administrators of Blackboard to be able to add inclusion dates in advance.

Being able to create a calendar on what days you want calls or don't want calls to be done would ensure that the program doesn't accidently call parents on days that are non school days.

  3. Viewers per page

We would like the ability to set viewers as specifically as per page.

  4. Add a "I'm A Parent/Member of the Community" Selection Box during the Registration Process

    Hi!

Our school district is currently attempting to devise a method in which we can reach out to registered users that are parents/members of the community to spread/share updates, newsletters, press releases, Superintendent's Message, etc; however, we found that it was quite difficult to encompass all those recipients in one group without having to manually choose each parent individually in the "Broadcast E-Alert" message, which can obviously be a nightmare depending on how many parents/members of the community have registered. Currently, all registered users get dumped into a generic, "All Users" pool, which is obviously mixed with employees/staff.

    We noticed,…

  5. Hierarchical grouping for groups...that way we could add a user to the lowest group & they would be placed in Higher Group automatically

I would like to see Hierarchical grouping for groups...that way we could add a user to the lowest group & they would be placed in a Higher Group/Groups automatically

Currently, one has to add a staff member to each group individually for all groups needed

Thanks and have a great day!

  6. Give user access to manage a single group

Our district uses groups to mange many of our pages instead of users, this allows us to quickly change who has access to individual pages with out going to every page and assign users. One of the many things we are asked is if we can give a department head access to manage there own group so they our music teacher department head could assign users to the music group and remove users from that group without having access to the entire group section.

  8. See full description of Group using the find a group feature.

When looking in "find a group" can not see the entire description (which I only noticed after I spent time typing the official club description for that group). Would like to be able to click or hover mouse over to see the full description.

  9. LDAP and Child Domains in Active Directory

Five years ago Schoolwires could not handle child domains in Active Directory. Has that been fixed? Schoolwires required users in one OU. Is that still true? This is critical for ESA's and large districts.

  10. Search and sort groups

I have over ten pages of groups, and it's very frustrating trying to find a particular group to add or delete members. Please give us a search tool as well as a way to sort them alphabetically.

  12. Enhance LDAP cross reference with support for dynamic groups.

The LDAP module has the ability to automatically assign access rights by using a Group Cross Reference. The module looks up the user in the directory tree and check what manual groups they have been assigned to and then gives them rights in Schoolwires.

What I propose is that the LDAP module be enhanced to support the newer dynamic groups of modern directories. This allows for much easier assignments of users to groups in the directory. Instead of manually having to add all users to groups in the directory you can create dynamic groups that automatically assign the users in…
