  1. Text/SMS School Identification

    When parents receive text/SMS messaging, the text comes from the same phone number each time (ex. 808-60); Despite having come from different schools or the District Office. Parents who are subscribed to more than one school (having both a high school student and elementary student) are sometimes left confused investigating which school the text message came from. A couple solutions I've come up with: 1. Assign each school a specific text number. Allowing parents to store that number as a contact for identification purposes. 2.   2. Allow more than 50 characters when you paste text into the "Text/SMS" box

    When you paste text into the "Text/SMS" box it limits you to 50 characters instead of 140. If you manually type the text into the "Text/SMS" box it allows the full 140 characters. Please allow a full 140 characters whether you type text in or paste text into the box.

  3. Attendance calls: Don't send system-default message for foreign languages

    When a district sets up a custom message for their automated daily attendance calls, all calls should be sent using that English default, unless a custom foreign language message is specifically created.

    Currently, we have set up custom attendance messages for all of our schools, but we found out that our foreign-language speakers are getting a different message from everyone else. That message does not include the custom text we set up in our English call.

  4. Add ability to send test email

    Please add the ability for users composing an email notification to be able to send themselves a test copy of the email. This would be similar to the "Send Test Call" feature on the phone call message type, but instead, "Send Test Email" and I'd input my email address instead of my phone number.

    The preview button on emails is useful, but we would also like to see what the email will look like in the inbox, or to send a test copy to the principal before sending it to all parents.

  5. Remove some of your default role groups.

    Need to be able to remove some of your default role groups which have no purpose, like Community Member, Superintendent, District Administrator and other groups. Let us select which will be accessible.

  6. Remove some of your default role groups, which are useless for us and in the way.

    Many of your default groups are useless and confusing for our users. They’re just of your default role groups and not particularly useful. They’re in the way! They take up the entire screen and almost hiding the last the group we need our users to access, called Groups. You have two folders, My Groups and DISTRICT groups). DISTRICT groups have all your default roles as groups and has the last group called Groups. Could you move this Groups to the root level?

  7. Add ability to hide Blackboard generated lists/groups

    Add ability to hide Blackboard generated lists/groups, such as, "*** Parents" lists. We have "Bus 101 AM Students" and "Bus 101 AM Parents" lists. We will only use the "Students" lists calling the parents information. The "Parents" lists just add confusion and more lists to look at.

    Please hide your default role groups. They do not show correct populations. We've created our own groups and need your groups to be hidden. Thank you!

  9. Update address book nightly for messages created in advance.

    Automatically update list of persons receiving messages when a message is created in advance. This past summer I created dozens of messages to be sent out throughout the year to find out that the school roster at that time are the only people that will receive my message. Anyone added late will not receive the message. Anyone unenrolled will still receive the message. Feel free to follow up with questions.

  10. Add a "Are You Sure" button after you select for "Send"

    To decrease the likelihood of sending the wrong message and to make sure the sender has reviewed all information, add another button after the send button to ensure the user is truly comfortable sending the message queued up in the system.

  11. Display Foreign language in lists as the common name not the actual language name

    Can Foreign language lists show the actual name being filtered… ex. "Spanish Parents" instead of "espaniol Parents", "French Parents" instead "francias Parents", "Bosnian Parents" instead of "bosanski jezik Parents", etc. It is very confusing and will be difficult for schools to find people of a particular country. Also, can the group lists be upper case first letter so it is consistent and easier to read. Currently English is listed English, but all other languages the first letter is listed lowercase russion, francais, etc.

  12. Percentage next to languages on messaging page

    On the messaging page, there is a language tab. Next to the language's are the percentage of users with that language. I would like that percentage to change based on the recipients used in the message I am sending. Not on the users in the system.

  13. Improve attendance reporting

    When sending parents to truancy court, we are required to prove attempted attendance contacts. When I view Contacts for a parent in their Personal File, it will show the type of message (Cafeteria Balance, Miscellaneous, Attendance). However, when I export it into Excel, it only shows the student name in the Regarding column which is frustrating. It would be helpful if that issue were addressed.

    However, I'd ultimately prefer to generate a Contact Report for attendance only for the entire school year--currently the report is limited for one month only.

  14. Keep public groups when creating-user switches location

    Scenario:
    A staff member creates some public groups at their school. These are groups other staff at the school also want to use.
    Now, the staff member who created the group moves to a new school.

    Current behavior:
    When the staff member leaves, the public group stays, but it loses all of its members.

    Desired behavior:
    When the staff member leaves, the public group stays and all of its members stay too.

  15. Email on behalf of other people, per message (user managed)

    We would like to see the ability for users to send a mass email on behalf of someone else, on a message-by-message basis.

    Currently, someone at a district-admin level has to configure custom reply-to email addresses for each school. When a school secretary wants to send an email on behalf of this teacher, or that coach, we just can't be configuring custom reply-to emails for each one at a central district level.

    We would like users at our schools to be able to type that "From name" and "From/reply-to email" into the area where they're composing their email message, or…

  16. User Ability to Opt Back In to Receive Email

    When users opt-out of phone calls or text messages, they have the ability to opt back in to receive communications by either calling an 800 number or texting START to a number without having to contact the school to edit it in the system. It would be great if users could opt back in to receive communications via email. There's an Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. It would be nice if there was a "re-subscribe" link of some sort that would opt them back in.

  18. Recipients Only Templates

    I have created message templates for our Transportation Department. When I created them, I checked "recipients only." However, users have to check this box again before they can send messages. Can a change be made so that this isn't necessary? The whole point of these messages is not to spam all users.

  20. Simplify the way messages are translated into languages other than English

    When sending a message, a list of all possible languages and percentages appear under the Language option, even if none of the recipients of the message have that language entered. It's difficult for a person sending a message to know which languages are needed for that particular message, so they are required to manually select a long list of langauges to make sure they cover everyone. Some ideas on ways to fix this:

    a. Add a "Select all" at the top of the Language list.

    b. Create a default option at the district level that if a language other than…
